The latest invention from Balloon Boy Dad, Richard Heene, has hit the airways. And it’s an insult to entrepreneurs everywhere.
The “Richard Heene Bear Scratch” is a three foot device intended to be mounted to a wall in your otherwise nice home. For a mere $19.99 (plus shipping and handling!) you can be free from the hassle of tracking down that pesky, always lost, flimsy back stratcher that you know you use every day!
And great news! An entire 5% of the proceeds will go to charity. That is, if you buy before Thanksgiving.
To add ego to entrepreneurial insult, he has actually trademarked the brand to include his own name; the Richard Heene Bear Scratch. Who does he think he is? Tyler Perry?
The best part of this ad may be watching the actual bear’s immitation of the Beyoncé Single Lady dance.
The worst part? Hands down the tag line; “Stick, Screw, Scratch and Sway.” Can’t even comment.

October 29, 2010Dear Kathy –
Definitely a gift for the person who has everything.
Funny one.
Maybe he should try to get into the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog.

October 29, 2010Ok, that’s just offensive lol! I’m almost speechless. This man seems to lack a very valuable quality – shame.

October 29, 2010Keller: It’s crazy, right? What makes it crazier is that people might buy it (for a gag gift?) and put money in Heene’s pocket. Did you notice that once again he shamelessly used his child? Ugh.
Corrine: Maybe a diamond encrusted version could be developed for the Neiman Marcus catalog. And a portion of those proceeds could go to Beverly Hills foreclosures. Only if purchases are made by Arbor Day.

November 2, 2010Tina: Between the balloon debacle and this crazy infomercial Heene has gotten enough press to warrant an SNL skit. If you’re right you win the prize! Sadly the prize is a Bear Scratch back scratcher.

October 30, 2010Hello Kathy
This is NOT funny…this is a real problem that many people suffer from…having an unsightly itch that you can’t get to is aweful. This product should sell around the world….Really….I think that is a real bear too.
Okay a bit of serious…this was a fun post to watch and I like humor a lot thanx

November 1, 2010I took the buy 2 deal and I was sticking it, screwing it,scratching it and swaying it all weekend.
Actually, I think he stole the tag line from my congressmen, because that’s what he’s been doing to us for the last 12 years.

November 2, 2010Ed: Be careful about mentioning politics and Heene in the same breath! Don’t want to put any ideas in his head. ANYONE currently in office would still be better than this buffoon.
And regarding your weekend activities. TMI, dude!
